‘The only one’: Jermain Defoe says there’s only one Spurs player who’s actually good enough at the moment

Tottenham Hotspur were back to their old tricks on Thursday evening as they lost to Bournemouth.

It was another drab performance by Spurs, and all of their good work in the 4-0 win against Manchester City a fortnight ago has now been undone.

Tottenham sit tenth in the Premier League table, and, quite simply, they haven’t been good enough this season.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s side are some way away from where they want to be.

Speaking to Amazon after the Bournemouth game, Jermain Defoe has been discussing Spurs’ performances this season, and he says that only one of Tottenham’s players has been good enough this term.

Dejan Kulusevski is the only Tottenham player who’s been good enough

Defoe spoke about Tottenham, claiming that Kulusevski has been the only player good enough in this side.

Kulusevski has received plenty of praise this season, and it has to be said he’s been brilliant in his new-found central role.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world. You have your ups and downs, but at the same time I feel like you can’t have one player out of the whole group who keeps up those levels of performances, and Kulusevski is the only one really who you can say that does that,” Defoe said.

Defoe says that Kulusevski is the only Tottenham player who has been good enough this season, but the stats don’t necessarily reflect that

Indeed, there are a few Tottenham players who can claim they have been up to scratch this term based on the numbers they are putting up.

Brennan Johnson has been amongst the goals on a regular basis this term, while James Maddison has shown glimpses of brilliance too.

Maddison has been praised for his performances recently, and he has been solid for Spurs.

Of course, the likes of Dominic Solanke and Heung-Min Son probably need to do more, but there are other Tottenham players who have been good this season.

Unfortunately, Tottenham really aren’t clicking as a team unit at the moment, and that has left them 10^th in the table some way off where they want to be in the Premier League.
