Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up to face Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Spurs will be eager to once again put a disappointing defeat behind them and look to take another step closer to a first major trophy since 2008.
Plenty of Tottenham players have blown hot and cold this season, but there has been one player who has been very impressive and has shown considerable growth.
Ange Postecoglou, speaking to football.london ahead of Wednesday’s match, praised the player in question and said he feels there’s much more to come from him.
‘More to come’ from Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski
The player in question is Dejan Kulusevski, who has made a name for himself as one of Tottenham’s best and most in-form players this season.
Kulusevski pointed to a growth in his maturity as one of the main aspects to flourishing in a central role this season, as per the Spurs website.
Postecoglou, speaking at Tuesday’s pre-match presser, was asked how much growth he had seen in the Sweden international’s leadership qualities.
“I think Deki is growing but I think that’s kind of where we are as a group,” said the Tottenham boss. “A lot of them are growing and growing through experiences.
“I think for Deki at the weekend was another growth period because he got hurt pretty early and wasn’t happy with it. In many respects, he lost a bit of his composure after that and that’s another growth for him.
“To understand it is part of it and focus your energy on helping the team on the day rather than being personally aggrieved, but that’s where we are as a group and that’s where we get our growth.
“By going through experiences like we did at the weekend with a lot of the players and them going through that and understanding how to deal with it better next time.
“Deki has been fantastic for us this year in both his output and his attitude and mentality. I think there is more to come.”
Kulusevski has bright future ahead of him
Kulusevski has been going from strength to strength under Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Prior to this season, the Spurs midfielder had enjoyed a relatively decent career at N17, but the jury was still out on him.
However, since Kulusevski moved into central midfield, he has become one of the Premier League’s most in-form players.
It’ll be exciting to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old for both Tottenham and for the Sweden national team.
