Report: Aston Villa make shock enquiry to sign £25m Tottenham star

Aston Villa are said to be keen on an ambitious move to sign one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players this summer.

Unai Emery’s side are not messing about in this transfer window. They have already signed the likes of Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrachenea, Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley and Samuel Iling-Junior, but that won’t be all.

Villa are on the verge of signing Amadou Onana as well in the coming days, and right after that’s done, they want to further strengthen their attack.

Now, a report has revealed that they have made a shock enquiry to sign a Tottenham player.

Aston Villa enquire about signing Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski is a fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Swede joined the club in January 2022, initially on an 18-month loan. That deal was made permanent in the summer of 2023 for £25 million (BBC).

Kulusevski has played 96 times for Tottenham over the last two-and-a-half years, and he has been a key player for them.

Everyone at the club adores him, and there have been no plans to let him go.

However, Aston Villa seem to have sensed an opportunity, and Football Transfers have claimed that Emery’s side have made an enquiry to sign Kulusevski.

The report claims that the Villans are keen to sign the Sweden international to replace Mousa Diaby, who is on his way to Saudi Arabia.

Kulusevski still has four years left on his Tottenham contract.

Spurs are under no pressure to sell him and it remains to be seen how they will respond to Villa’s interest.

Tottenham are in talks to sign potential Kulusevski replacement

It’s still unclear whether Tottenham would entertain the idea of selling Kulusevski, but they seem to be keen to sign a player who is fairly similar to him.

The report claims that Tottenham director Johan Lange has initiated discussions to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves this summer.

The Portuguese attacker is a left-footed right-winger who can also play on the opposite side and in a number 10 role. That makes him a like-for-like replacement for Kulusevski if he was to leave.

However, the Swede is a phenomenal player himself, and although his output is a bit low – 34 goals and assists in 96 games – he has the potential to become a star for Tottenham next season.
